As a Christian homeschooling family you have tremendous opportunities to change our world, not just through the children you are so carefully teaching, but together with them. As a natural outgrowth of NATHHAN’s heart for the disabled, we are putting a name to the adoption part of this ministry. CHASK means Christian Homes Adopting Special Kids. With God's help we are saving pre-born babies with special needs and through you, recruiting families to love them forever.

For 12 years we have been working with birth moms and adoptive parents. Some of the most memorable situations have served to plant a seed of hope in our hearts that somehow NATHHAN families could provide a means of locating loving homes for special needs babies, without agency fees.

Following is a letter...

"I hope you do not think I am a cruel person. As I am typing this, I am crying. I do feel like you people are probably the only ones who could help me, though. I have a beautiful 6-month-old son, who probably has CP. He contracted group B strep meningitis, had bilateral strokes and seizures. The problem is, I am not sure I am the best person to be his mother. I am not sure I can keep up this pace for the rest of his life. No one in my household is happy. I am doing all I can to make sure Jake has the best life possible, and I don't think that includes a mother who may not be able to accept him for the way he is. I am investigating putting him up for adoption. He is sweet and lovable. Please help me."

…The telephone rings. We talk with a mom who is literally crying out for help… " Public special ed is ruining my child with autism. I've got to homeschool.

Where do I start?

Can I train my special needs child with behavior problems?

"What about a Christ centered education for my special needs child?

"Just because I have a disabled child, am I faced with no other alternative but a lifetime of Godless state intervention?

Is there any hope that my child will not be swallowed up in humanistic morals and self love?

And what about moms who are pregnant with a child that has a poor prognosis? The world encourages abortion of this child she loves "for the good of society". If a mom cannot care for a disabled baby she may feel taking her baby’s life her only choice. Can you help us find these moms? We want them to know that Christian loving homes wait for her little one if she cannot raise a child with special needs.

Parents are desperate for our assistance. With your generous financial support, we will meet these needs. The vision of NATHHAN is totally possible by spreading this labor of love among other caring Christians.

Here are several ways that we can give these families hope.

• CHASK, through NATHHAN, offers families a matching service with no agency fees. As we continue to build our database of families who are willing to adopt a special baby, moms are contacting us here to see if we truly do have a home for their baby. NATHHAN's no fee referral services makes it financially easy to take a child into your home, or to support a family in the adoption process. Want to help us meet this need? Read on.

• Today we are aggressively working to find mothers in crisis pregnancies with babies who have special needs. There are loving families for these children within NATHHAN. (We are teaming up with pro-life organizations to locate babies, both born and pre-born).

Here are several ways you can help meet these urgent needs.

• We are writing a book called You Can Homeschool Your Child with Special Needs! It will answer the most asked questions we receive here at the NATHHAN office. This desperately needed tool for searching parents has got to get to the printers and into the hands of families. We need $20,000.00 to edit and print the first 10,000 copies.

Here is your opportunity to support brothers and sisters in Christ to whom God has given a disabled child. Together, let's give them hope by sharing the book, You Can Homeschool Your Child with Special Needs! You and I will answer those agonizing questions. This book will help them realize that disability is not so bad. We can home school our special needs children with joy! There is no other Christ-centered, parent written, book like this. Without your input, this book will not have the powerful impact it has the potential for. Please take the time in your busy lives to write a paragraph or two to encourage parents who are wondering if they are alone in their struggle for a Christ-centered education for their child. Read the article called "You Can Homeschool Your Child with Special Needs" page 16 in this magazine for suggestions of small topics to help us with. You do not need to be a gifted writer. Just be honest and tell us how it is for you. Please send us your letter by e-mail if you can. If not, we’ll type it in. We just want to hear from YOU!

Tremendous hope awaits moms and dads. The book, www.nathhan.com and the NATHHAN NEWS are showing parents not only how others are giving their special needs child a private Christian education, but that it is possible for them to live normally. State intervention is NOT necessary.

These moms need to hear from you. Please take the time to write a dear birth mom letter. You can save the life of a baby by sharing the love of your home.

• Get a CHASK flyer. Give it to your local Crisis Pregnancy Center or OBGYN.
